Mr Solly, Senior Clerk, General Post Office, Hong Kong, applied in October 1899, for twelve months leave (4 months
on full and 8 months on half salary) from the 21st March 1900

having had no leave for nine years.
Leave granted.
In January 1900 the Postmaster of Shanghai having
applied to be allowed to retire, Mr Solly was recommended for
the appointment; he offered to forego six months of his leave,
and to devote the whole of his leave to study at the General
Post Office London.
Offer accepted, and in consideration of the circumstances decided to grant Mr Solly six months full pay
leave.
Leave cancelled on 10th March 1900.
